Berkshire Associates’ 2010 Enforcement Agency Updates: Census 2010 Special EEO File
The 2010 Census “short form” raised concern among Federal contractors because the form did not include any questions regarding occupation. Federal contractors use occupation data to monitor compliance with anti-discrimination laws such as the Civil Rights Act, fair employment, and affirmative action.
Joseph Donovan, the Director of Research and Analytic Services at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), recently distributed an announcement stating the EEOC will release a 2010 version of the EEO Special File in 2012. At present, it appears as though the next EEO File will be based on a five-year roll-up of data from the American Community Survey. According to Donovan, the basic data will be much the same as in the past, but will include data for citizenship and standard errors for all the numbers in the file. Information about the American Community Survey is available
