Global Pharma Company Settles Gender Pay Discrimination Claims

Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health USA Inc, a Missouri federal contractor, has entered into a conciliation agreement with the OFCCP to settle allegations of pay discrimination based on gender. OFCCP contends that 75 women working as scientists, technicians, and technical administrators working in the animal vaccine manufacturing department were not paid fairly. While not admitting wrongdoing, the company has agreed to award $341,560 in back pay and $37,530 in interest to resolve the alleged violation.

Beyond the financial remedies, Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health USA Inc also agreed to review and revise its compensation and pay practices and provide training to company managers, supervisors and official involved in making and overseeing pay decisions. The settlement is another reminder that Federal contractors are required to review their employment and personnel processes, as well as their pay data, to ensure potential disparities do not exist.
