January 21st thrust federal contractors into an uncertain landscape, as the Trump Administration rescinded the decades-old affirmative action planning requirement formerly ordered by EO 11246. Along with the requirement to prepare affirmative action plans contractors had a variety of other obligations under EO 11246, impacting everything from their websites and job postings to their purchasing and subcontracting processes.
It can feel overwhelming for contractors who spent years ensuring compliance with all aspects of EO 11246 to figure out how to end those elements that are no longer required, while maintaining compliance with the Section 503 and VEVRAA requirements that are still in place.
Contractors are permitted to follow the prior regulations until April 21st and should be using this time to evaluate their existing programs and practices related to EO 11246.
In our next webinar, Managing Consultant Rachel Rubino will discuss how contractors can unwind their EO 11246 affirmative action programs. Rachel will walk through a checklist of the things that need to be reviewed, identifying those that need to be removed, and others that need to be modified to remove references to EO 11246 while still maintaining compliance with Section 503 and VEVRAA requirements.
The webinar will also discuss what contractors should consider as they shift their efforts from affirmative action compliance to ensuring non-discrimination and compliance with Federal anti-discrimination laws.
