OFCCP Issues National Interest Exemption for Efforts Related to Hurricane LauraLast week, while remnants of the storm were still battering parts of the United States, OFCCP issued an exemption for contracts entered into in support of Hurricane Laura relief efforts. This exemption applies only to contractors who are awarded new contracts related to relief efforts – if a contractor holds other covered contracts, this exemption does not apply. This exemption is valid for a period of three months, from August 27, 2020 to November 27, 2020. The exemption is only for the development of a written AAP, and does not exempt contractors from non-discrimination obligations, displaying workplace posters, listing open positions with the state employment service, or maintaining employment records. OFCCP released an extensive list of FAQs about this exemption.
