OFCCP has released a revision to the FAAP directive, entitled, “Directive 2013-01, Revision 3”. This revision was established to provide additional information regarding the procedures for requesting, modifying, and the renewal of FAAP agreements. Additionally, the revision also provides clarity to the original language as well as modifications to the FAAP process.

Functional Affirmative Action Programs (FAAP) are used to help federal contractors build their Affirmative Action Plans (AAP) in an operational way rather than physical location based. This is useful to contractors who may find analyzing their AAP by function/operation helps them tailor any outreach and initiatives more specifically to their organization structure.

Any federal contractors who are interested in the development of a FAAP must contact the OFCCP and get approval. Once approved, contractors a generally assigned a FAAP manager at OFCCP to help with the process. FAAP agreements typically last for 5 years between federal contractors and OFCCP. Before the 5-year expiration date, contractors must submit a request in writing to OFCCP with any business and organizational changes if they wish to renew their FAAP agreements.

Any federal contractors who are renewing their FAAP agreements with OFCCP will now be subjected to renewals under this new revision. OFCCP will also be hosting a webinar to discuss the revised directive.
